India Squad:
India’s tour began with warm-up matches between India A and Australia A, aimed at strengthening their final squad and maintaining a solid bench strength. The likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, Yash Dayal, Mukesh Kumar, and Navdeep Saini all featured in the unofficial matches, aiming to make their mark. Notably, Dhruv Jurel impressed with a couple of half-centuries in as many games, hinting at his potential to make an impact. In the bowling department, Mukesh Kumar was exceptional, claiming 11 wickets at a remarkable average of 16.18, while Prasidh Krishna closely followed with 10 wickets at 17.3 — the standout performances for India as they look ahead in the series.

Australia Squad:
Australia, on the other hand have handed maiden test call-ups to Nathan McSweeney and Josh Inglis for the opening game of five-match test series.
Nathan McSweeney, who impressed with a strong performance against India A in the unofficial matches, averaging an impressive 55.33, earned a direct call-up to the main squad.
Captain Pat Cummins will spearhead the pace attack, joined by Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc, with Scott Boland providing additional pace options. Nathan Lyon is the team’s sole specialist spinner, while Marnus Labuschagne, Travis Head, and Steve Smith are expected to step in as backup slow-bowling options when needed. Alex Carey continues to be Australia’s preferred wicketkeeper. The South Australian has been in sensational batting form in the Sheffield Shield, topping the run charts with two centuries and a half-century from six innings.
As a backup wicketkeeper and reserve batter, Inglis offers crucial flexibility, with his all-round skills making him a game-changer. The Western Australian has been in excellent form with the bat, currently ranked fourth in the Sheffield Shield run-scorer standings.
